Hollywood! Appx. 6 feet in September 1996 (230K QTVR)

In the distance notice the two waves called corner and upper by the raft guides on the James. You need to make it past these two before you can attempt the big drop at Hollywood. In this picture the route you want to be taking is through the whitewater in the distance. The tongue that is closest in the QTVR will put you too far to the right to be ligned up for the big drop. If you don't know this already you should scout this section after eddying out on the right after 1st break. This picture is taken at about 7 feet in February 1997 (230K QTVR)

Normally you run this rapid by going from River Right on top of the rapid to River Left on the bottom of the picture. You need to scout this rapid if you've never done it before. Click on this thumbnail image to see raft running Hollywood from the "resue rock" perspective. The level here is below 6 feet. Thanks to Ingrid Shannon for the photograph.
